Claimed to be from Santander. The woman sonded genuine. Said a suspicious direct debit was in place for transfers abroad. Then asked if I did internet banking or transferred any money abroad. When I said no she thanked me. She phoned at 6.05, their phone lines close at 6.00 pm. Called Santander on a different number this morning and they said it definitely was a SCAM and when I said I didn’t do internet banking they lost interest! They have “piggy-backed” onto a genuine Santander number. They would NEVER EVER query a direct debit being set up. TRUST NO ONE WHO PHONES CLAIMING TO BE FROM A BANK! Call them back on a genuine number FROM A DIFFERENT PHONE. |
