Scammers claiming to be starling bank fraud line checking some unusual activity. Knew a lot of my personal information. I got suspicious when they asked me to open my banking app and googled their phone number. Made 2 payments on my card for more than Ā£400 before I had a chance to block it. Immediately called the actual fraud department from the number on my card to report the issue. |

Scam from starling bank fraud prevention claiming they stopped two transactions on my account. Very convincing and gave loads of āverificationā information before the asked for the long card number and it twigged. Reported as per instructions a few posts below. |

We get these scam calls and texts because vulnerable members of our society fall for them and provide the criminal gangs with a nice tax free living. We also get inundated with scam calls and texts because no one bothers to report them. The police have no idea of the extent of this criminal activity. Take responsibility and anonymously report every scam call and text. Takes no more time than posting on this site. Also, do not call back a missed call from an unknown number without checking it. Many reasons including it could be a wangiri scam or it could be a genuine number belonging to a total innocent person. Be aware that the scammy pondlife use millions of different untraceable computer-generated fake UK landline and mobile numbers so blocking is a waste of time. Some blocking systems limit the maximum blocked numbers and wonāt work when the limit is exceeded. We must take action to stop criminals using fake mobile numbers, fake UK landline numbers and spoofed (copied/cloned) genuine UK business numbers, calling from anywhere on the planet. Contact your MP. Explain the problem and ask what Parliament is doing to force our phone industry to introduce technology to prevent these numbers calling. The technology is available. The UK parliament web site will tell you how to email your MP. The response will be interesting! |

SCAM! AVOID! REPORT ALL scam attempts directly onto the police fraud database. Google āaction fraudā and go onto the āpolice.ukā site. Click on the āreport a phishing attemptā page and read through ALL the information. Then complete the scam report form. Provide full details including any link or internet address details in the free typing space. Registration is not required and no personal information will be requested unless you are reporting a fraud where you have lost money. Also report these details by email to the other government fraud agency āreport@phishing.gov.ukā. Reporting ALL these calls and texts is the only way that the police can understand the extent of these attempts to rob us ā AND deal with it. |

Pretending to be Metro bank I do work with that bank and I have locked myself from my online banking so sounded quite in line with my situation. Then they said I might have revived a text from HSBC , TFL, TV license or NHS ( I had a text from NHS saying I need to get a test. ) But during the call I googled the number and. This page came out so I stoped the call and told them I will get in touch with the bank direct on their official number. In my case it sound so legitimate! As I did have all of their suggestions and the bank calling me did make sense. Please be careful! Once I said I will he go up the phone and re dail the bank directlyā¦ a second voice came in and start saying hang up hang up now. |
